Walsh Scholarship Fund

Starting as a simple $750 donation from widow Marge Walsh Witherspoon in the mid 1970's, the Club's Walsh Scholarship fund has grown to $697,000 by December 31, 2006.

A total of $251,257 has been donated to the Fund since its inception, including $4,230 in new donations in 2006.  Net proceeds from Club sales of football tickets also go to the Walsh Scholarship Fund.

The Fund is invested under the direction of Scott Malpass, Notre Dame's Chief Investment Officer and has nearly doubled since 2002.

The Fund awarded 13 students with a total of $28,000 in scholarships in 2007.

Club members interested in donating to the Walsh Scholarship Fund can do so by designating all or a portion of a check to the University's annual fund.  All that's needed is noting "Walsh Scholarship Fund" on the check memo and enclosing a brief separate note explaining your request.

If you have questions, please contact Walt Huurman, the Club's Walsh Scholarship steward.
